What's Happening in Norwalk, CT…

Symphony gets together again online

Norwalk classical music patrons can enjoy an evening with the Stamford Symphony without leaving home, as the symphony will be giving a virtual gala in a few days. This will be “Together Again: Stamford Symphony’s First Ever Virtual Gala Concert.”

The symphony’s music director Michael Stern will be the conductor of a few members of the symphony’s string section in the First Movement of Grieg’s Holberg Suite, Opus 40. Pinchas Zukerman will perform Bach’s Violin Concerto No. One in A Minor with members of the symphony. The second movement of Beethoven’s Quintet for Piano and Winds Opus 16 will have soloist Dr. Michael Coady and the musicians from the symphony’s wind section.

Cellist Amanda Forsyth along with a few members of the symphony’s string section will play the second movement Offenbach’s Les Larmes De Jacqueline Op. 76 No. Two.

The members of the string section will also perform the Wind Quartet in E-flat major, Op. Eight No. Two by Stamitz.

The second movement of Dvorak’s “New World” Symphony No. Nine will be presented by the entire symphony through a virtual presentation featuring the orchestra’s members in their homes.

Finally, Stamford Symphony members will perform duets and solo short pieces from places around Fairfield County. Many businesses donate to art groups, so their logo design gets displayed on the organization’s social media.

The one-hour-and-a-half event will take place Saturday, October 24 at 7:30 pm. Online registration is necessary to receive the link.
