Norwalk hosts Crane Wives performance
Norwalk can enjoy an evening with the musical group The Crane Wives coming in mid-November.
The Crane Wives are at the forefront of a folk music rebirth that started sometime around 2010 and has continued to evolve since then. They also add hints of 90s indie alt-rock, similar in some respects to Belly, the Breeders and Juliana Hatfield. They play with an emphasis on acoustic guitars and different kinds of drums. The band features two lead singers, Kate Pilsbury and Emilee Petersmark. They sing solo on different songs and also join together for others, sometimes in harmonies.
The band is currently very big on social media, with 1.3 million monthly listens on Spotify, and 20 million YouTube visits. They also interact with fans on Instagram, TikTok and Facebook.
The band describes their music as high energy, with a lot of emotion, sometimes venturing into some of the painful sides of life. They have also recently released their sixth studio album and have been feature on the NPR program "All Songs Considered" and Michigan Radio.
Tickets for the show range from $40.58 to $64.26 depending on seat location. The warmup band will be Spencer LaJoye.
Fans of groups like this often rush to the band’s stall to see if they can purchase any promotional products.
Crane Wives will be performing at District Music Hall, downtown at 71 Wall Street. The two-man-two women indie folk band will be appearing Sunday, November 16 at 7:30 pm. Doors will open at 6:30 pm.
