Norwalk's Seaport Association will be hosting their annual Pirates Weekend coming in mid-July.
Local wenches, rogues and villains will be boarding either the C.J. Toth Ferry or the Capt. M.D. Schlegel Ferry heading to Sheffield Island. Once on the island, little scallywags can hunt for treasure, lean and sing sea chanteys, play pirate-themed games and watch pirates as they sword fight. Old tars will be retelling dangerous and thrilling tall and reminiscing about their swashbuckling days.
All the pirate games and fun will be included in the $40 and $45 ferry tickets. The ferry will be departing at 10:00 am returning at 1:00 pm, departing again at 11:30 am, returning at 2:30 pm and departing at 1:00 pm and returning at 4:00 pm on Saturday July 18th and Sunday, July 19th. The ferry will be located at its New Seaport Dock in South Norwalk, 90 Water Street, and paid parking will be available at the Haviland Street parking lot, the Norwalk Maritime Center Garage and at the North Water Street lot.
Pirate guests are advised to arrive 30 minutes before departure, wear light-colored pants and long sleeve shirts, bring water and bring plenty of sunscreen and bug spray.
Families with little pirates and wenches often take pictures of them and their pirate friends and send the pictures to local Print shops to be added to family newsletters.
