The 9th Annual NICE (Norwalk International Cultural Exchange) Festival is coming to Norwalk in early October.
The Norwalk NICE Foundation has organized the event to promote cultural unity and diversity in the Norwalk community, with no fewer than 24 live performances on the venue's two stages.
The Child of the World Stage will open the event with the West African Guinean and Group Feraba Art performing a traditional drum circle. The main stage will feature global sensation Jamaican reggae singer Queen Ifrica, and Connecticut's own Anthem Reggae Band. Bluegrass will be brought by Austin Scelzo and Rock Hearts, and Latin vocalist Katty Colmenares will present a Celia Cruz tribute. Additional music will include folk dancing, drumming, and other folk traditions and genres.
International cuisine will be available for purchase, and more than 50 creative people will be selling their arts and crafts from around the world. Guests may also enjoy the cultural exhibits and family-friendly interactive activities.
Admission will be free, but donations will be welcomed in order to keep it free. Although there is limited seating at the venue, attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Organizers of events like this often go to flyer printing companies for promotional reasons.
Rain or shine, the 9th Annual NICE Festival will take place Saturday, October 4th at Oyster Shell Park, 10 N Water Street, from noon to 8:00 pm.
