What's Happening in Norwalk, CT…

Norwalk opens Business Recovery Center

Today, November 12, will see the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) open a Business Recovery Center in Norwalk. Offering help to business owners still struggling after Hurricane Sandy, it is likely to be well attended.

The SBA facility will provide practical help on a one-on-one basis to anyone in need of disaster assistance. Customer service representatives will be available during normal office hours through the course of each day, and will offer guidance on the help available.

The Connecticut district director, Bernard Sweeney, said:

“Businesses with physical damages or loss of revenue should seriously consider visiting the Center and applying for an SBA disaster business loan.”

Physical Property Damage loans up to the value of $2m are available, with lending able to be directed into any organization regardless of its size or business area. The loans are able to be used for replacing damaged and destroyed machinery, real estate, and other assets. The loans can also be used for works to future-proof assets against other disasters.

Economic Injury Disaster loans are also available. Able to bridge the working capital gap caused by Sandy, the cash injection could be timely for many smaller businesses and agricultural concerns in the area.

To make businesses and organizations aware of the center, print shops in the area will probably be kicking into gear to get posters, leaflets, and literature out there. The on-site SBA representatives will also be able to help business owners complete their loan applications.

Applications for the emergency facilities need to be completed and returned by December 31 for PPD loans, and July 31 2013 for EID loans.
