Norwalk Mac and Chili lovers attend challenge
The Great Mac & Chili Challenge will warm things up toward the end of January.
About 20 teams will vie for honors at this fundraising Chowdafest. Attendees will be given spoons and a cellphone digital voting site. After they have had all of the mac and chili they can consume, they rate each entry on a 7 to 10.5 scale using their phones.
Teams competing in the Classic Chili Category will be BobbyQ’s, Dunville’s Restaurant, Hub and Spoke, Little Pub, and O’Neils. The Creative Chili Category will include CR, Gates, Geronimo Southwest Grill, Harbor Harvest, Local Kitchen and Beer Bar, Old Post Tavern and Tarry Lodge. Those competing for Mac ’n Cheese honors will be two-year champion Burger Bar Bistro, CR, Jacob’s Pickles, Planet Pizza, Simply Delicious and Vazzy’s.
Those that buy their $20 tickets online before this Sunday, December 15 can get free commemorative Chowdafest ugly sweater ornaments. These red, white, and blue beauties have the Chowdafest logo design on them along with snowmen and festive houses.
This event has been organized in order to raise funds for Food Rescue US. Since 2011, this organization has saved over 50,000,000 pounds of food from local landfills and has prepared and delivered over 36,000,000 healthy meals to those in need.
The Great Mac & Cheese Challenge will be Sunday, January 26, at The SoNo Collection, 100 N Water Street, from 11:30 am until 3:00 pm.
