Norwalk lighthouse has busy few days ahead
Sheffield Island will be having two events over the next two weeks.
The Sheffield Island Lighthouse 150th Anniversary Dinner will occur first. After a cruise to Sheffield Island, guests will enjoy a celebratory dinner of raw oysters, shrimp, Rhode Island clam chowder, and lobster tails. A dessert table will be set up, and s’mores will be available at the fire pit. The evening will also have entertainment.
Proceeds will go to lighthouse conservation. Pictures taken during this event can be taken to stationery printers to be made into colorful family calendars and personalized stationery.
A last yearly Clambake on Sheffield Island is also scheduled for the end of September. The menu for this will include Atlantic salmon, marinated ribeye Steak, rosemary chicken, lobster, and vegetarian burger. This, too, will consist of a round-trip boat ride, a tour of the lighthouse, and the dinner which will be prepared by Ripka’s Beach Café’s Chef Clyde Ripka. Guests will get to visit the McKinney National Wildlife Refuge and take a cruise around it on the association’s 45 foot catamaran.
The Lighthouse dinner ferry will leave from the Sheffield Island Ferry Dock at 4:00 pm and return at 8:30 pm on Saturday, September 15. The dinner will begin at 2:15 pm. The Sheffield Island Ferry Dock is located at 10 North Water Street.
The clambake will be Thursday, September 20. The ferry will leave Sheffield Island Dock at 6:00 pm and will return to the dock at 9:30 pm.
