Norwalk celebrates oysters
The Seaport Association will be hosting its 42nd Oyster Festival in early September.
Fresh oysters, lobster rolls, and lobster dinners will be offered for purchase from local non-profits. The Seaport Tent will have information about Norwalk’s oystering history. Guests can also buy special items commemorating The Sheffield Island Lighthouse.
Over 100 crafters and artists will be selling their original works. Some genres will include home décor, clothing, wearable art, pottery, paintings and jewelry. Guests may wish to collect business cards from their favorite vendors so they can get in contact with them at a later date.
Friday’s entertainment will be Time Currie’s Tumblin’ Dice Band at 6:30 pm, and a Santana tribute band- Sacred Fire at 8:30 pm. Saturday Alex Shillo will take the stage at 7:30 pm and Mike DelGuidice and Big Shot starting at 8:30 pm. Sunday the VMI Commanders will start at 1:00 pm followed by The Pirate Band and Jimmy Kenny Band at 2:00 pm. Brian Howe, the former lead singer for Bad Company, will be the final performer at 5:00 pm.
The Seaport Circus Spectacular, rides, kid-size games, and activities, face painting and treats in Kids Cove, and a 65 foot Ferris wheel will be there.
