Norwalk boaters welcome boat show

The Progressive Norwalk Boat show will be coming toward the end of September. The event will feature boat sales, demonstrations, seminars, toy boat building, and career information.

Annapolis School of Seamanship will be sponsoring a Boat Confident tent where boaters can meet professional captains, attend seminars and learn practical skills. A training boat will be down on the docks giving clinics, docking demos, and hands-on training. United States Power Squadrons will have a boat simulator for all boaters.

Fred’s Shed will have a Boating Career Day for those interested in the recreational boating industry. Job postings and employers will be on site. Fred’s Shed will also be the location of the nine free seminars scheduled throughout the event. Some of these will be Diesel Engines and Generators, Lower Unit Repairs and Maintenance, and Keep Your Carburetor Clean and Running. Try-it sessions will include power boating, stand-up paddle boarding, Solstice Floating Dock, canoeing, and kayaking.

Kids can create toy boats, paddleboat in their own mini pond, and meet exotic rescue animals such as Amazon parrots, wallabies, and owl monkeys.

Buffalo Wild Wings will be providing the wings for the Wing Eating contest. The winner will receive a 65 quart Yeti boating Cooler grill. Friends of the winner will be taking pictures, perhaps for later poster printing.

The boat show will be 10:00 am until 7:00 pm from September 21 through 24 at the Norwalk Cove Marina, 48 Calf Pasture Beach Road, East Norwalk.
