What's Happening in Norwalk, CT…

Mayor to present musical entertainment

Norwalk supporters for the arts will want to join Mayor Rilling in an evening of classical music and more later this month.

The mayor and the INTAKE organization invite all to the upcoming INTAKE’s Fourth Annual Gala Concert. This event will be a true cultural crossover.

Classical music will be provided by the Norwalk Youth Symphony, which will share the evening with other musical organizations such as the Mariachi Academy of Connecticut, a group dedicated to teaching youth to play traditional Mariachi instruments.

Students from INTAKE Native Instruments Academy will also perform. They are a nonprofit organization whose mission is to bring youth to classical music through musical training on native instruments from diverse cultures. The INTAKE Ensemble, featuring Paco Godoy and Norwalk’s own Ballet Tonantzil, will also be performing.

The program will include music from J.S.B. Bach, Daniel Alomia Robles’s Peruvian classic ‘El Condor Pasa’, and Mexican composer Arturo Marquez’s ‘Danzon Number 2’. Also on the program will be a Nicaraguan piece entitled ‘Credo’. This last piece will feature Jose Criollo, a guest conductor, who will direct the choir with young Lu Miranda as soloist. The Greater Norwalk Arts Council may want to have photos taken of this event to submit to brochure printers at a later date.

The event is scheduled for March 21, beginning at 7:00 pm at the Norwalk Concert Hall, 125 East Avenue, Norwalk.
