Local organization to host dinner benefit for education

Norwalk Education Foundation invites all local food connoisseurs and those who like to eat, to its annual ‘Taste for Education’ later this month. This is an opportunity to support local public schools and enjoy an evening of the town’s best cuisine.

The meal will feature oysters and clams, baked goods, local wines, specialty coffees, spiked seltzer, and cake donated by local establishments. Some restaurants participating will include Mama’s Boy, Garden Grill and Bar, Romanacci’s, BMS Baking Company and Diageo. Other participants will include Chef Hunter (the youngest Chopped Champion) and some local culinary students. Anyone wishing to volunteer may want to have some flyer printing carried out to hand info out to family, friends and neighbors.

Proceeds for this event will benefit The Norwalk Education Foundation (NEF), which is independent of the local school system. Its mission is to support innovation and excellence in Norwalk public schools. Programs include technology training, hosting technology coaches in all the schools, and providing classroom innovation grants. Another area that NEF supports is the community outreach and advocacy effort, while also helping Norwalk public schools raise funds for programs that improve student achievement, such as its internship and afterschool programs.

The dinner will take place Wednesday, November 12, 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm at Aitoro, 401 Westport Ave, Norwalk. Tickets cost $45 in advance or $55 at the door.
