Local association holds festival
Norwalk Seaport Association will be hosting its 45th Annual Oyster Festival in September.
Special entertainment for children will be on the stage in Kids’ Cove. The area will also feature a carnival, parade, games, cotton candy, popcorn, and balloons.
An International Food Court will have Italian, Columbian, and Mexican fare along with summer goodies like cotton candy and funnel cakes. Local non-profits will be raising money for their programs and services by vending New England favorites such as fresh oysters, lobster rolls, and authentic New England lobster dinners.
More than 100 local crafts people and fine artists will be displaying and selling their original works. In the New England Village there will be live demonstrations, displays and merchandise featuring this year’s event graphic design available for purchase. The Road to the Festival will have displays, give-a-ways, and prizes. Oyster Festival Harbor Cruises will be leaving the Veterans’ Park Dock.
On Saturday Gary LeVox from Rascal Flatts will be the headliner.
Proceeds from the event will go to support the Seaport Association’s educational programs, habitat restoration projects and upkeep of the 1868 Sheffield Island Lighthouse.
Admission will be $15 for adults, $6 for kids from 5 to 12 years old, and $10 for seniors 65 and older. Kids under the age of five will not need tickets.
The festival will take place September 8th, 9th and 10th at Veterans’ Memorial Park, at the intersection of Seaview Avenue and Fort Point Street.
