Parker to become home to new sporting goods store

A new retailer for sports gear will be opening in Parker this month.

Sportsman’s Warehouse will be located in a building that once was occupied by Gander Mountain. Gander Mountain had closed, but the building was constructed specifically for selling gear for sportsmen, with a great deal of floor space. With an area of 57,000 square feet, the building is on Cottonwood Drive and was purchased by Camping World Holdings Inc. in 2017.

Flyers and other materials can be printed by local Print shops providing more information about products to be offered at such new locations prior to their opening.

Jon Barker, CEO of Sportsman’s Warehouse, expressed his excitement about opening in Colorado and expanding the store’s presence in California, where two new stores are planned to open later this year. He added that although many of the retailer’s competitors are deciding to leave the market or to de-emphasize their offerings, his company is continuing to open new stores and grow the business through both new store locations and an online presence.

Matt Carlson, economic development director for the Town of Parker, said that this store could draw people to the town. There are two other stores such stores in the Denver area – one in Thornton and another in Sheridan – but otherwise there are not many such stores in the area.
