Genre-blending band headlines Parker venue

Parker’s The Studio at Mainstreet is hosting a concert by the Dark Waters Project this fall.

The Nashville-based duo consists of co-lead vocalists and founding members Cherish and Adam Hamby.

Drawing from genres as diverse as alternative rock and bluegrass, the pair use influences such as Stevie Nicks, Jeff Buckley and Simon and Garfunkel to craft their unique sound, which the band calls Darkgrass.

Having toured all over North America, Dark Waters performs original songs written by both Cherish and Adam, as well as unique spins on covers.

The band has been featured in national TV shows, radio programs and podcasts, including The Blue Plate Special, The Dugger Mountain Music Hall and Jim Parker’s Songwriters Showcase.

In competitions, they were finalists for both the Old Grey Idol Contest and in the Nashville Rising Song Contest for multiple years, as well as scooping up three nominations in last year’s The Josie Independent Music Awards.

In 2018 Dark Waters Project also won first place in the pop genre for the song “Dream Again,” among other awards at the Smoky Mountain Songwriting Festival, where their song “Deep Red” was also recognized as the Grand Prize / Song of the Year.
