Students from the Interact Club at the Cimarron Middle School in Parker recently held a fundraiser to raise funds to help eradicate polio in Nigeria, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.
The students raised $500, which was donated to the Rotary Club International, is a service organization that is the leading one with regards to eradicating polio. A banner printing company may have been hired to create such a banner that people can see when they enter the school building. The banner was presented to the students by the Cherry Creek Valley Rotary Club of Parker. The students then made individual name tags which they were able to attach to the banner.
As a junior Rotary Club, the Interact Club needed to sponsor an international and local fundraising event. To qualify for the international aspect, the club took part in Pajamas for Polio. Locally, they worked on a school safety project and planted trees in Parker for Arbor Day.
One student said she enjoys being a part of the club because she can give back to the community without any benefit to herself.
Nicole Martin is the student advisor for the club. She commented that any student can belong to the club so there are students who are involved in math, theatre, and sports. The students are very passionate about helping others and they take the initiative to run the club under her supervision.
