Parker buzzes with bee activities at honey festival

The Town of Parker Cultural Department and Parker Arts will be presenting this year's Parker Honey Festival in early August.

Over 20 local vendors and beekeepers will be showcasing and selling honey products, such as beeswax and health and beauty products, bee-friendly plants and beekeeping tools. Each one will offer either an interactive activity, or educational experience.

Vendors that attend events with specific themes such as honey, often have local services adorn theme-specific Business Cards with clip art such as bees, hives and honey pots.

Attendees will be able to view working bee hives, learn about honey making, don beekeeper's suits and sample honey.

Some lucky drawing winners will be taking home bee-friendly plants compliments of Tagawa Gardens and someone will walk away with a beekeeping starter kit. Everyone can take home lots of beekeeping materials to help them create their own hives.

Events at the gazebo will include How to become a beekeeper at 9:30 am, 10-minute story times at 10:00 am and 11:00 am, 20-minute talk on native bees at 10:30 am, pollinators at 11:30 am and Jeapor "bee" at noon.

The Southeast Beekeepers, our local beekeeping club will be passing out information and telling passersby how to join.

This year's Parker Honey Festival will be from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm Sunday, August 3rd in downtown Parker at O'Brien Park. Admission will be free.
