Parker will soon be home to a new four-story hotel with 51 rooms, retail space, and a restaurant on the ground floor, as a comprehensive planning agreement for the project was recently approved by the town council.
The site of the hotel on Main Street is the current home of the Parker Economic Development Department and will be sold to Mars Development LLC, a real estate developer in Parker.
Business retention and marketing manager for the town, Weldy Feazell, commented that having the mixed-use building on Main Street will help to attract more consumers and businesses to the downtown area.
An additional 25 parking spaces are planned for the site, which came into question as a parking study for the town had not been completed. Josh Martin, a member of the council, commented that parking in the area should not be a problem. This opinion was echoed by Councilmember John Diak, who added that the issue of parking would require further study.
Feazell added that more agreements need to be figured out and, as long as all the approvals are reached on schedule, said that construction will begin early next year.
The town might consider use of a banner printing company to create Signs for the site so members of the community will be informed of the development in the area.
