Local Parker high schools highlight student talent

Chaparral High School and Lutheran High School here in Parker will be offering presentations that showcase what their students can do in March.

Chaparral High School Performing Arts will present "Hadestown Teen Musical" on Saturday, March 1. The musical, written by Anais Mitchell, is a melding of the ancient plays "Hades and Persephone" and "Orpheus and Eurydice."

Performances will be at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm, and tickets will cost $15 for adults and $10 for students.

On Thursday, March 6, Chaparral High School will combine its symphonic band, jazz band, and wind ensemble for the Chaparral Band and Orchestra Concert. The curtain will go up at 7:00 pm and admission will be free.

The bands will then merge with the area's middle and elementary school bands and present A Chaparral High School Feeder Area Band Concert. This event will take place Tuesday, March 11 and begins at 6:30 pm. Admission will be free.

The Chaparral High School events will take place at the high school, 15655 Brookstone Drive.

Lutheran High School will be presenting "Newsies the Broadway Musical" on March 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, and 16 at the Pace Center, 20000 Pikes Peak Avenue. Admission will be $16 for students and $20 for adults. Friday performances will be at 7:30 pm and the Saturday and Sunday performances will begin at 2:00 pm.
