During the annual State of the Town celebration, the Rotary Club of Parker’s Impact Award for 2019 honored six individuals from the community who best represent the club’s mission of service.
A teacher at Chaparral High School for over 10 years, Carolyn Ford received the award for her Success Through Academic Recovery Program at the school which helps out those students who are at risk of graduating. A chaplain for the United States Army, David Nagel was awarded the designation of Family Life Chaplain and spends much of his free time volunteering for numerous organizations in Parker.
As a specialist with the South Metro Fire Community Risk Reduction Team, Colleen Potton helps in the prevention of problems that can lead to illness or accidents in the Parker area. Dr. Chris Winter, a Parker Adventist Hospital trauma surgeon, who has provided life-saving surgery to those in developing countries and led programs on equestrian safety in the local area.
Poster printing can be used so that residents of the community are aware of such awards and appreciation of their service.
Other honorees include retired manager of Parker Public Works, Frank Yeager, who has also been instrumental in developing cost-effective water management systems in the area. Director of Vocal Music and Orchestra at Legend High School Dr. Kurt Stroman, has led choirs that have performed in this country and around the world, including two choral performances for the late Pope John Paul II at the Vatican.
