Rocky Vista University, with its main campus and first medical school in Parker, is beginning site preparation in Ivins City, Utah, for the construction of its second medical school and student housing.
By the summer of next year, the University intends to start accepting students and open the new school.
Ivins Mayor Chris Hart commented that it is exciting to have this school in the city, as it will be the second medical school in Utah.
It will be built on 30 acres of land surrounding the Southern Utah Veterans Home. The former Snow Canyon Clinic has also been acquired by the University for clinical practice and administrative use. It will be renovated during the spring and summer so that as of September, student interviews can be held there.
The University is expecting to hire 35 full-time physicians and educators with Ph.Ds. and 47 administrative staff. The medical school will have 125 students a year, who spend the first two years in classes and the following two years at regional hospitals and clinics off-campus. Hart said the expectation is that students will then be able to practice medicine on the region of Southern Utah.
The University might benefit from the assistance of a local printing company to promote the new medical school and its programs by means of Brochures and other Print materials.Get a Free Quote for Brochures Get a Free Quote for Print
