Band to fuel nostalgia in Parker show

A band that honors a decade of now iconic music is bringing its concert to Parker in early March.

Electric Avenue is a group of musicians who share a passion for ‘80s tunes, extending to a drive to recreate the authentic sound of many of the artists. They use vintage equipment from their own collections as a part of this effort.

According to an event listing, so authentic is Electric Avenue’s sound that the band once faced a cease-and-desist from Warner Music, because the record company thought the band was using recordings of the actual artists. In the decade over which the group has been performing, they have worked alongside some of the artists and band members whose music they include in their shows, as well as more modern acts. A selection from this iconic roster includes Tracy Chapman, Idina Menzel, Pat Benatar, Boston, Boyz II Men, Paul Simon, and Lionel Richie.

Electric Avenue: The ‘80s MTV Experience is selling its tickets through the site for Parker Arts. Of the available selection at the time of writing, tickets are either $44 or $49. A few of the seats are listed as having an “obstructed view.” The box office is available for inquiries about this.

Themed shows and musical acts commonly turn to graphic design for the merchandise offered to the crowd. This performance begins at 8:00 pm at the PACE Center on Friday, March 1.
