Taste of Hawaii coming to La Palma area

People who enjoy Hawaiian music and food can have both at an upcoming event in the La Palma area.

The King's Hawaiian Aloha Friday Luau is on the way, presented by Hawaiian Music Live. Hawaiian food will be available at an all-you-can-eat buffet, courtesy of King’s Hawaiian. Hawaiian dishes are often derived from Polynesian foods, and might include items such as pork, fresh fruits, and even Spam.

Music at the event will be provided by JD Puli, Neal Chin & Lauren Baba, Nā Hoa, and Maunalua. Puli is a guitarist and vocalist, who sings traditional Hawaiian melodies. Neal Chinand Lauren Baba are both instrumentalists who have teamed up to cover other artists’ songs, as well as performing original works.

Nā Hoaʻs is a trio comprised of Halehaku Seabury, Ikaika Blackburn and Keoni Souza. The group’s specialty is taking traditional music and putting a contemporary spin on it. The last group, Maunalua, is also a trio who have been praised for their expert handling of traditional Hawaiian music.

If all this wonderful music were not enough, there will be a hula performed by Halau Hula Lani Ola, a hula school.

The Luau is set for January 17, from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm, at the UFCW Union Local 324 at 8530 Stanton Avenue in Buena Park, a short distance from La Palma. Banner printing can be used to make suitable decorations for events like this.
