The Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts in the La Palma area is hosting a concert by Neon Nostalgic this September.
With a focus on covering pop hits from the 1980s, Neon Nostalgic sets itself apart from other tribute bands by playing the original music videos that aired on MTV during the cable channel’s heyday, syncing the performance perfectly to the video projected on stage.
MTV famously coined the notion of a “VJ,” which is a video jockey, a play on the term “DJ” or disc jockey. They served as hosts on MTV, introducing each video in interlude segments that sometimes included celebrity interviews.
To ramp up the nostalgia levels to 11, two of the original MTV VJs from that time period, Mark Goodman and Alan Hunter, will serve as hosts for Neon Nostalgic’s concert, which will feature music by everyone from Prince to Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, The Cure, U2 and Bon Jovi, among others.
The show is part of Neon Nostalgic’s ongoing tour in California, which has included stops in Palm Desert and Arroyo Grande.
Concerts like this may choose to use banner printing to create marquees, vendor Signs and stage decorations.
