La Palma hosts Halloween carnival with twist

La Palma’s Central Park is hosting a Halloween Carnival and Costume Contest with a unique spin this October.

The free event, powered by local volunteers and vendors, is a family-friendly alternative to traditional Halloween celebrations, with trick-or-treating, giveaways, carnival games and more. The crown jewel of the festivities is a series of costume contests with special subcategories to help them stand out.

Several types of costumes will be showcased in a cascading schedule, topped off with the announcement of the winners from each category, including Best Pet Costume, Funniest Costume, Most Original Costume, Scariest Costume, Best Duo Costumes and Best Family/Group Costumes.

The main Halloween Carnival is happening at La Palma’s Central Park, which includes amenities like restrooms, three basketball courts illuminated by street lights, two playgrounds — one for younger children and one for older children, picnic tables and outdoor fitness equipment.

Outdoor structures also include a pavilion, gazebo, and lighted fields for soccer, softball and tennis.

Parking for the event is available at the Community Center, City Hall and Edison Right-of-Way, the latter of which coincides with a walkway that runs along the park from Valley View Street to Barbi Lane and includes park benches and dog waste stations.

Carnivals like this may choose to use Graphic Design Services to create promotional material for online and in Print.
