Run for fun near La Palma

An ongoing running group is having fun near La Palma, and there is room for everyone to join.

A group of people who want to get in their “morning miles” with a run meets weekly in Artesia, a short distance from La Palma. The routine is well-structured, starting with the fact that the groups are separated by the distance participants wish to run: three miles, six miles, or a “long run” distance.

Once the groups are set, the captains will lead the runners in a series of stretches to warm up. After that, they will go over the rules, describe the routes, and make any necessary announcements.

To avoid crowding on the courses, the starting times are staggered. As runners finish their chosen routes, they will return to the starting point, Bakers & Baristas, where they can enjoy post-event drinks and food. The only item on the check list for runners to bring is water.

The runs are organized by the Social Hour Run Club, based in Orange County. The group’s purpose is to help runners meet their goals by providing a sense of community and social environment they will find encouraging.

Bakers & Baristas, the beginning and end point of the runs, is at 11700 South Street in Artesia. Although the series of runs has already started, there are many coming up, including one on September 3, from 8:00 am until 10:00 am. Organizers of outdoor races like this can use banner printing to create weather-resistant course signage.
