Popular runs return to La Palma area

A popular event that has been on hold is returning to the La Palma area.

The Social Hour Run Club organizes runs in the region, and recently announced that runs on Saturday mornings, which are extremely popular, will be held once again. The runs start at Bakers & Baristas, located in Artesia, a short distance from La Palma.

To make sure everyone is safe and healthy, the club has made some changes to its runs. The new rules include the fact that groups of 10 people or fewer will be led by a captain who will be assigned to that group. The race options available are 3 or 6 miles, and long runs.

Captains will take their groups through rules, routes, stretches, and any announcements to be made, and groups will be started at various times to avoid crowding on the routes. Banner printing can be used to provide course markers for events like this.

Participants will be required to wear a face covering any time a minimum safe distance of six feet cannot be maintained. The organizers request that anyone who has recently been ill, or who is feeling ill on the day, stays at home. Also, they ask that runners minimize physical contact by using “air fives” or “elbow taps” instead of exchanging actual high fives or hugs. They also ask that runners do not gather in a crowd after the event.

The first Saturday morning race takes place this Saturday, April 24, at 8:00 am, and will continue every week after that.
