La Palma is blending fitness with fireworks for the 4th of July holiday. City officials are encouraging everyone to come out for the 38th Annual La Palma Fitness Run for Fun, and to start the holiday with a health-enhancing event.
The race is actually several races: a 5K Run, a 10K Run, and a 5K Walk – an unusual event that is very rarely held in Southern California. There is also an event specifically for children, which parents can use to show them about running, called the Yankee Doodle Dash. The Dash is for kids from ages two to twelve, and all the entrants will receive a medal for participating, and an official bib.
The event starts at 6:00 am with check in and late registration; the 5K Run and 5K Walk, as well as the 10K Run, all start at 7:30 am. Those who are not taking part can enjoy a pancake breakfast courtesy of the Kiwanis. At 8:30 am the Yankee Doodle Dash starts, and the Family Fun Zone will open up. The awards will be given out at 9:15 am.
The event will be held on July 4 itself, beginning at 7:30 am. The races start near Central Park in La Palma, which is located on Walker Street.
Events like this can be enhanced if organizers work with a banner printing company to create colorful Banners and flags to mark the racecourse.
