A traditional celebration is taking place in La Palma.
For the 35th year, La Palma’s Community Activities and Beautification Committee is hosting the Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony. Everyone is invited to enjoy the start of the holidays in style, including musical performances given by students from local La Palma schools, and spending time with friends.
Santa, Mrs. Claus, and all the elves plan to get to the party early, so everyone will have a chance to meet him and his family and friends. There will be a station where people can write letters to Santa, and arts and crafts are also planned. When these types of events take place, organizers can use banner printing to create seasonal decorations that are weather resistant.
The Toys for Toys program is also part of the event. Anyone who would like to do so is encouraged to bring an unwrapped, new toy to the tree lighting, where it will be collected by the La Palma Community Services Department. Toys for Tots is a nationwide program run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve that brings toys to children in need everywhere.
If they prefer, people also have the option of donating toys from November 28 – December 16 at the office of the Community Center.
The La Palma Tree Lighting is set for December 7. If the weather does not cooperate, the event will be rescheduled for December 14.
