Jazz duo to appear in La Palma

Two talented musicians and their backup ensemble will be in La Palma soon.

Husband and wife duo Sal Cracchiolo and Melanie Jackson will be performing jazz standards and original works with the help of an outstanding rhythm section that will be backing them up.

Cracchiolo was Tower of Power’s lead trumpeter for 10 years, from 2011 to 2021, as well as providing backing vocals. He can be heard on three albums: 2018’s “Soul Side of Town,” “Step Up” from 2020, and “50 Years of Funk & Soul: Live at the Fox Theater,” which dropped in 2021. A large ensemble, the original group had 11 members, seven in the horn section and four others on guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. Tower of Power first started up in 1968 in Oakland and is still going strong, albeit with multiple changes to the line-up.

Jackson has toured extensively in Central and South America with Jose Luis Rodriguez, and is now familiar with that market. She also became familiar with rock when she toured in the 1980s with REO Speedwagon. In 2004, she and Cracchiolo released “Fly,” which won a Latin Grammy nomination.

Cracchiolo and Jackson will be at A’Roma Ristorante on Centerpointe Drive in La Palma next Thursday, October 6, from 7:30 pm until 10:00 pm. To publicize events like these, organizers can turn to poster printing to create colorful advertising.
