An event is coming up in La Palma that is part of a nationwide tradition, and this time it includes a helping of soul music.
La Palma’s Central Park will be the location of a civic expo held in connection with National Night Out. During the event, a concert will also be held in the park, with Stone Soul providing the tunes. National Night Out is an annual event that enhances partnerships between police and citizens, and helps neighborhoods come together.
People of a certain age will associate the name “Stone Soul with a group called Sly & the Family Stone, as well as the sound of the legendary Motown groups, and indeed, Stone Soul sings soul and Motown. They are an eight-piece band that includes three horns. Stone Soul plays classics by artists like and The Temptations, James Brown, and Otis Redding.
National Night Out and the Civic Expo, as well as the concert, are Saturday, August 5. National Night Out is from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm, with the concert running from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm.
