Celebrating health in La Palma

La Palma has come up with a way to celebrate a holiday and good health at the same time.

The city has announced the upcoming La Palma Fitness Run for Fun, which allows friends, neighbors, and families to focus on wellness and health as they take part in a quality experience that gives them the choice to stroll, walk, or run.

The race is sanctioned by the United States Association of Track and Field (USATF), and certified to be a fast, flat course run on asphalt streets. There are a number of water stations on the course, and the La Palma Police Department will control traffic for participants’ safety.

There are several courses available – a 5K, 10K, and a 5K walk. There is no 10K walk at this event. The race is an out-and-back loop, and people running the 5K will make only one loop, while those running the 10K will make two loops. The 10K Run, 5K Run, and 5K Walk will have split starts. Organizers of this type of event can use banner printing to create course markers.

After the race, the La Palma Kiwanis Club will provide its pancake breakfast, and the Family Fun Zone will once again be set up, thanks to the La Palma Community Services Department. July 4 is the date for celebration. The runs begin at 7:30 am, as does the pancake breakfast. The kids’ run starts at 8:30 am, and the awards will be given at 9:15 am.
