Yama Kids Yoga in Berkeley will be offering two week-long winter camps for children in December.
The Yama Winter Camp is an experience that introduces children to yoga in a fun environment. During the program, kids will learn how to meditate, play games, and be taught about mindfulness. Children can also work on crafts projects during the camp. Mats are provided to the campers, though kids should bring two snacks, a packed lunch, and a water bottle. The instructor will also take the children on walks if the weather is favorable. Face masks are required for all participants in the yoga camp.
Yama Kids Yoga is a studio formed in 2009 by Beth Houghton. The business was initially known as Bendy Berry and was created after Houghton heard from other parents about how students were interested in yoga as an afterschool activity. The studio has worked with more than 2,000 students since it opened. Houghton’s co-founder of the business is Iman Mills Gordon, an Oakland native who has been an education consultant for the University of California.
The first week-long yoga camp will be held from December 19th to December 23rd, and the second camp will be from December 26th to December 30th. The camp fees are $450 for the whole program or $100 per day. Studios that offer programs like this may use flyer printing to advertise their seasonal camps.
