The City of Berkeley is set to host its annual Harvest Festival at Cedar Rose Park this October.
To honor the fall season, the free event is child-friendly and filled with live music, among other activities.
There will be a seed swap, food contests, booths representing various city departments and other hands-on Forms of entertainment.
Giant inflatables, a children’s zipline, opportunities to win prizes, a scarecrow-making station, carnival games and pumpkin decorating are all part of the festival’s “Kid Zone.” The younger children have their own “Tot’s Zone,” including arts and crafts, face painting, a sandbox and a small jumper.
People are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets to use during the music portion, featuring bands from the local area. For those seeking hot and ready meals, food trucks will also be on hand during the festival and available all day.
Aspiring chefs may participate in a food contest with free registration. The homemade categories of dishes include Best Jam and Jelly, Best Pesto/Sauce, Best Salsa, Best Savory Bread, Best Pie, Best Cookies, Best Gluten-Free Baked Goods, Best Cucumber Pickle, Best Homegrown Fruit and Best Homegrown Vegetable.
Festivals like this may choose to use brochure printing for product catalogues, event programming and schedules.
The Harvest Festival is happening on October 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Cedar Rose Park at 1300 Rose St. in Berkeley.
