Berkeley tour to showcase urban farm sites

Bay Area Green Tours will be offering a trip in April where people in Berkeley can visit local urban farms.

Urban Foodscape Tour: Innovators Nourishing the East Bay is an informative program where people can visit several destinations and meet with experienced farmers. The first stop is Urban Tilth, an organization that teaches local youths about urban farming and watershed restoration programs. Tour participants can meet with Doria Robinson, the executive director of Urban Tilth.

The second stop on the program is Deep Medicine Circle's Rooftop Medicine Farm. The farm is located in Oakdale, California and uses a farming model that combines traditional ecological and agroecological knowledge and practices. People can hear from Benjamin Fahrer and Dr. Rupa Marya while at the rooftop farm.

The urban farm tour will conclude with a visit to the eco-industrial campus known as O2AA. Guests may meet with Paul Discoe and learn about the facility's many projects, such as the Kula Nursery, Soba Ichi, and the Ponderosa Millworks. Guests will also be taught how the organization uses repurposed food to feed the unhoused.

The foodscape tour will be held on Wednesday, April 5th from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Tickets for the excursion will cost guests $145 per person. Companies that coordinate educational experiences similar to this may use poster printing to promote their trips to other people.
