Berkeley book event reaches second chapter

Downtown Berkeley will be alive this summer for the second annual Bay Area Book Festival.

The event features a few hundred authors who will be holding sessions to speak about their works, and will offer signings and readings as well. This could be an opportunity for local Print companies to reach out to the authors to provide poster printing to promote their Books.

The event has something for all ages, with special sessions just for children or adults. The children’s program has been the focus of expansion and offers a variety of activities broken into age groups newborn to 7, 8 to 12, and a sessions geared to teenagers.

The schedule is available online and features several dozen sessions that are available for pre-purchase. There will also be the option to buy signed works and speak with the authors as they mingle with attendees.

To gear up for the weekend festivities, there will be performances at the Freight & Salvage by artist Saul Williams, along with jazz musicians. New to this year’s event will be a Tribute to Ireland featuring a conversation between Novelist Colm Tóibín and Nicholas Dirks, UC Berkeley Chancellor, on the morning of June 5.

The main festival takes place June 4 and 5 is free to attendees, which last year saw hundreds of participants. For more information, and a schedule of events, visit the Bay Area Book Festival website.
