Helping to make new coffee brands available to Berkeley residents for the last two years, Bay Area CoRoasters (CoRo) is now introducing those same brands to the public via a retail café.
In Berkeley, CoRo has supplied the assistance of a knowledgeable staff, along with roasting space and an assortment of commercial roasting equipment, to CoRo member companies. Now, those companies’ brews will be available a cup at a time at the CoRo Coffee Room, which includes a well-furnished bar and a revolving array of member roasts.
According to CoRo CEO and Co-Founder Floy Andrews, it took 18 months to complete the design, buildout, and permitting to make the CoRo Coffee Room a reality. Patrons will find not only coffees from around 20 roaster members, but also goods from local culinary artisans such as The Baker and The Midwife (breads and pastries), June Taylor James (syrups and jams), Blue Willow Tea (specialty teas), and Tcho (chocolates).
Down the road, the café will be utilized for consumer-focused classes on coffee basics such as tasting and the fundamentals of brewing. Additionally, events that focus on importers of foodstuffs, farmers, and roasters will be held there as well.
Promoting such events is often done with the help of a poster and flyer printing service.
The Bay Area CoRoasters, both the shared roasting space and the Coffee Room, are located in Berkeley at 2322 Fifth Street.
