Runners ready for Mesa Marathon

Mountain Vista Medical Center is hosting its 10th Mesa Marathon coming in mid-February.

Along with the 26.2-mile run, there will be a half-marathon (13.1 miles), a 10K run, and a kids’ 1K Fun Run.

The Marathon will be a Boston Marathon qualifier beginning under the white Phoenix sign on Usery Mountain. The course will be fast and will have an almost 1,000 feet net elevation drop along the N. Usery Pass Road. Aid stations will be situated every two miles up to the 22nd marker, when they will be every mile.

Awards will be presented to the top three finishers in each of 15 age groups. Special Arizona’s Copper Star medals will go to those runners completing the course in under six hours.

The Half Marathon will begin at the corner of Norwalk and McDowell and descends almost 350 feet of net elevation.

The 10K course starts at Pitch Park, goes through downtown Mesa and ends at Riverview Shopping Center along with the courses from the other two races. Awards will go to the top three finishers in each of the 15 age divisions.

Participants in each of the three races will receive tech shirts displaying the event’s Logo Design. Organizers boast of a particularly impressive finish experience, including fruit, drinks, energy snacks, massages, soak tubs, and food trucks.

All races will begin at 6:30 am on February 12.
