Rock fusion heads to Mesa

Mesa music fans will soon have an opportunity to enjoy an evening of laid-back entertainment as The Lucky man concert series will be hosting a Slightly Stoopid concert.

The group, from Ocean Beach, California, is headed by multi-instrumentalists and co-founders Kyle McDonald and Miles Doughty. They will be performing their music in their own particular, after Stephen Marley and Cypress Hill have kicked off the proceedings.

Slightly Stoopid’s music has been described by some music writers as a fusion of psychedelic rock punk, metal, folk, rock, blues, and reggae, with a little hip-hop and funk. Along with the traditional guitars, they have added saxophones, keyboards, and bongos. Attendees might want to bring a camera to take photographs suitable for later poster and banner printing.

General Admission will be $32, but the $140 Slightly Stoopid BBQ Meet & Greet Ticket package may interested hardcore fans. It includes a general admission ticket, the BBQ Meet and Greet, and a photo with the bands’ members. Those who take up the offer will also leave with a Stoopid BBQ apron, a small cooler, a spatula, a Koozie-VIP laminate and a tour poster that can be signed during the BBQ.

The event will be held Thursday, July 24, from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm at the Mesa Amphitheatre, 263 North Center Street, Mesa. Doors open at 4:00 pm.
