Region to celebrate Brazilian Independence Day with vibrant festival

Afro:Baile will be presenting its 7th Brazilian Day Arizona Festival at the end of this month

Perhaps the main South American event in the area, this event will celebrate Brazilian Independence by bringing the culture of the nation to Arizonan families.

The indoor area will offer workshops that will be teaching attendees to dance Brazilian dances, how to play musical instruments, and the Brazilian martial arts capoeira.

In the outdoor area, bands will be playing Brazilian Samba and Pagode rhythms and dances on the main stage. Some bands will be playing on the outdoor stage. Everyone is encouraged to dance, but those who just want to listen can bring lawn chairs, blankets, or sit on the grass.

Outdoor performances will include traditional carnival samba, coco, and afro music. Axe Capoeira/Folclorico will be performing. Fans here in Mesa may want to check with the performers to see if they have any Promotional Products for sale.

Traditional Brazilian street food such as cakes and caipirinha - a sugar lime drink thought of as Brazil’s national cocktail - will be available for purchase. A cultural booth will have activities and interactive displays.

Rain or shine, the event will take place at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, 7380 E. 2nd Street, on Saturday, September 24 from 2:00 pm until 10:00 pm.
