This year’s Mesa Adventure Challenge will be in full swing in a couple of weeks.
This will be a combination of an adventure run, scavenger sprint, and in some cases a goose chase. Teams of two to six people receive a set of clues that will include Trivial Pursuit types of questions, riddles to solve, and physical challenges.
As each clue is solved, teams arrive at checkpoints around Mesa and take pictures to validate their stop. They find points of interest, complete challenges, and scavenge for indicated items. All points will be within a three- to four-mile range. However, teams may have to walk from five to seven miles total. Many teams will have pit-crew-phone-friends at home with web access to help solve the clues and to guide the team to their destinations. The top three finishing teams will receive awards.
Participants must be 12 years old or older. Registrants will receive dog tags and event T-Shirts. Teams are encouraged to dress in their Halloween best to vie for Best Costume prizes, then perhaps take pictures for later poster printing and family Calendars.
Mesa Adventure Challenge will be this Saturday, October 28 with the check-in starting at 11:00 am. The race will run from noon until 2:30 pm starting and ending in downtown Mesa at the Desert Eagle Brewing Company. A pre-event meeting will begin at 11:45 am. The event will take approximately 1.5 to 2.5 hours to complete.
