Many runners here in Mesa are gearing up for the 9th Sprouts Mesa Marathon coming the second weekend in February. The event will feature full and half marathons, along with a 10K and 1K Kids’ Run.
The full marathon will cost $135 per runner. Swag includes tech shirts with the event’s Logo Design on the front. The race will begin at 6:30 am on Usery Mountain under the big white Phoenix sign. This course will be a fast Boston Qualifier that will offer a net elevation loss of about 1,000 feet. Aid stations will be at two-mile intervals along the course. The finish line will be at a Mesa’s Riverview Shopping Center.
Awards will be given to top three finishers in 13 age divisions, the men’s Clydesdale (200lbs+) and women’s Athena (150lbs+).
The Half Marathon will cost $120 per runner and will begin at 6:30 am at the intersection of Norwalk and McDowell, and it ends at the Riverview Shopping Center. This run will have a net elevation loss of only 350 feet. Divisions and awards will be the same as for the full marathon.
The 10k costs $50 and starts at 6:30 am in Fitch Park, and travels over some of the marathon route before ending at Riverview Shopping Center. The free kids’ 1K starts at noon.
Sprouts Mesa Marathon will be Saturday, February 8.
