Mesa families are invited to attend the 35th annual Mesa Arizona Temple Gardens Christmas Light Celebration that begins this weekend. The event is free and open to the public and is a celebration of the Christmas season.
A flower garden and various palm trees at the temple are strewn with hundreds of thousands of Christmas lights, as well as recorded messages spoken in both Spanish and English. Thousands of volunteers have been working for hours erecting new statues, winding Christmas lights, making 16” bows for the new wreaths, and getting everything together. More than 500 volunteers have helped with raising a star over the display and stringing lights. The Visitor Center has no doubt been keeping local printing services busy with its seasonal concert schedule handouts.
In addition, concerts will be held every evening from 7:00 pm to 7:30 pm starting this Monday, December 1, and running through Christmas Day. First up will be the Greenfield Elementary Handbell Ensemble and a piano and vocalist performance. Other nights will feature local musical talent getting the chance to entertain a home crowd.
The lights will be turned on at the Mesa Temple, 101 South LeSueur, Mesa this evening, November 28, at 5:00 pm and will continue every evening until December 25. The best viewing times occur between 5:00 pm and 8:30 pm.
