Arizona Hemophilia Association will be presenting Nana’s 34th Annual Salsa Challenge, which will be here in a couple of weeks.
Amateur and professional chefs from the area will be concocting over 100 salsas for prize money and bragging rights. Guests will be able to taste samples and consume all the salsa and chips they can eat.
The two-day event will have a daily winner in each of the Hot, Mild, and Anything Goes categories. The winners will be decided by a panel of celebrity and professional judges. Entries will be judged on consistency, aroma, color, appropriate heat level, taste, and aftertaste. The overall champion on each day will get $1,000. A judge-off between champions of the two days will determine the Grand Champion.
The KidZone will be filled with inflatables, including bounce houses, a giant Connect Four game, obstacle courses, a bungee run, giant soccer dartboard, Wrecking Ball and Giant Jenga, and more.
Merchandise and food vendors will be selling novelty items and food.
The Too Hot to Trot Salsa Challenge 5K will be the kick-off activity on the second day. Runners will receive free early admission to the Challenge, along with breakfast and music in the Runners VIP Area. They will also get Too Hot to Trot T-Shirts featuring the event graphic design.
The Salsa Challenge will be April 14 from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm and April 15 from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm at Sloan Park, 2330 W. Rio Salado Parkway.
