Fall is just around the corner and that means football. City of Mesa Youth Sports will be holding its annual Fall Kickoff Celebration early next month.
Girls and boys between the ages of 6 and 15 can try out their football skills in an NFL’s Punt, Pass, and Place Kick competition.
Children need to register online before the September 8 deadline. Then they can get a printout of the form and bring that along with a City of Mesa waiver signed by their parent or guardian. Kids must wear athletic shoes and not wear cleats. Winners will go on to the regional and national competitions. Parents and guardians of those winners will want to get pictures of their star athletes for later poster printing.
The day will also be for families as there will be food to buy, games, and door prizes. Everyone will want to bring lawn chairs and blankets for the Movie in the Park. Kids can also sign up for the City of Mesa Youth Sports programs that will be available in the coming year.
The event will officially begin at 6:00 pm on September 9 at Hohokam Stadium, 1235 N. Center Street here in Mesa. Registration and checkin for the Punt, Pass and Kick will be between 5:00 and 6:00 pm. The evening will end sometime around 9:00 pm.
