Mesa invited to airport open house

Falcon Field Airport will host its yearly Open House at the end of March.

The event will feature an attack helicopter, the Cobra helicopter, and other aircraft such as general aviation, experimental, and public safety aircraft and vintage warbirds. Flight simulators and helicopter and warbird rides will be available.

Over 150 exceptional cars will be on exhibit at the Impala Bob’s Classic Car Show. Local businesses, area aviation education programs and the City of Mesa will also be on display. Arizona Big Train Operators will be exhibiting their model railroad, and kids will have plenty to do with all the aviation-themed crafts, balloon twisting, photo booth, face painting and inflatables.

Attendees will want to stop by the Southwest Military Transport Show at Arizona Commemorative Air Force Museum at 2017 N. Greenfield Road (at the airport) from 9:00 pm until 4:00 pm. Collectibles, static aircraft displays, military vehicles, and a plastic model contest will accompany a swap meet. The museum will be open for visitors to examine exhibits and military aircraft used at the airport when it was a World War II pilot training base.

Aviation buffs often take pictures of their favorite vehicles and aircraft at these shows. Many photos are taken to local Print shops to be enlarged for wall displays.

The Falcon Field Airport Open House will be March 28 from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm at the airport at 4636 E. Fighter Aces Drive.
