Mountain Vista Medical Center will be presenting its annual Mesa Marathon early in February. Along with the marathon, the event will offer a half marathon, 10k, and a Kids’ 1k.
The marathon will be a Boston qualifier with a course that runs from the Usery Mountain Phoenix sign to Bass Pro Drive. Scenery will range from cactus desert to the beautiful Phoenix Valley.
Registration for the marathon will be $139, while the half marathon is $119 and the 10k is $59. These prices are in place until next Wednesday, January 11, after which prices increase $10. Swag will include free photos, highlight videos, medals, technical shirts sporting this year’s event Logo Design, fun, and food at the finish line.
The untimed Kids’ 1k, geared for children 12 and under, will begin at noon. The course will be a clockwise loop ending at the Bass Pro Drive where participants will run under the arch through the chute that will act as the finish line for the adult races. All runners will get race bibs, finisher ribbons, and shirts.
Community groups will be manning aid stations, and many will no doubt get banner printing done beforehand so they will have colorful Banners to go along with all the yelling, music, costumes, and commotion to encourage runners as they pass. Runners will choose the best group, and winners will receive monetary donations.
