Mesa arts venue goes online with music program

Mesa Arts Center is offering a virtual subscription series called Classical Music Inside Out 2020-2021.

Pianist Richard Dowling will begin the series on October 15, when he will perform An Evening with American Composers. The program will include hits by Gershwin, Scott Joplin, and David Thomas Roberts.

On November 19, Rob Kapilow, also a preeminent pianist, will give a performance on ‘What Makes it GREAT: The Music of Cole Porter’. Along with Broadway stars Michael Winther and Sally Wilfert, Kapilow will take the audience on a musical journey through Porter’s career and life.

To celebrate Ludwig van Beethoven’s 250th birthday, Adam Golka will be giving a recital in his honor on December 17. Golka a Polish-American pianist, has spent this year performing all 32 of the master’s sonatas. This was in preparation for his next recording sessions with First Hand Records.

On January 21, composer, arranger, pianist and free improvisation artist Matt Herskowitz will welcome the new year with a jazz piano performance.

Moving further into 2021, February 18 will see a show by comedian, improvisation artist, and opera star Shelly Watson. She will be creating memories and moods that have entranced audiences for over six years.

The final segment of Classical Music Inside Out will be on March 18. This will be Duo Parnas, violinist Madalyn Parnas, and her sister, cellist Cicely.
