December will be a busy month for the Mesa Arts Center.
Festivities will begin with Handel’s Messiah December 13 at 7:30 pm.
December 14 will be the free Mesa Arts Festival, where guests can enjoy holiday treats, shop for handmade items, and listen to music performances. Children can enjoy the free hands-on activities. Also that day, the Piper Theater will present the first performance of its 33rd annual Ballet Etudes Nutcracker, with other presentations on Sundays and Saturdays until December 21. At 7:30 pm, the Ikeda Theater will have Symphony of the Southwest’s Seasons Greetings, a music program of holiday favorites by artists like Irving Berlin, Mel Torme, and Victor Herbert. The audience can take part in the sing-a-long.
Salt River Brass will present its traditional Holiday Pops concert the next afternoon at the Ikeda Theater, on December 15.
On December 19, the Ikeda Theater will share a little Hawaiian Christmas spirit with a Na Leo Holiday Concert. This famous female Hawaiian trio will be blending contemporary pop ballads with holiday classic and traditional Hawaiian vocals.
Three days later on December 22, the Ikeda Theater will present Dreams of Winter - a program featuring the Tempe Community Chorus. The performance will begin at 4:00 pm.
When event centers like this have holiday programs they usually have photographers take pictures of the events to include in the following year’s visitor guide brochure printing.
