Local park to host inaugural evening bike rides

As a new addition to the Insomniac Night Trail Rides series, all new Stunner Night rides in Mesa’s Usery Mountain Regional Park have been scheduled for mid-July.

These rides will be on loop courses originating and ending at the Blemins Trailhead at the park’s far side.

Registration on race day for 12-hour quads will cost $320, and 12-hour trios are $260, duos are $200, and solos are $130. Six-hour duo registration will be $140. The three-hour and the 9.5-mile solo rides will cost $75 and $60 respectively.

The 12-hour trio, duo, and quad groups will start their journeys at 7:00 pm. The 12-hour solo start will begin 15 minutes later at 7:15 pm. The six-hour start for duo and solo participants will be at 7:30 pm, while the 9.5-mile and three-hour solo starts will begin at 7:45 and 8:00 pm respectively.

Each ride will begin with groups of 10 riders in each wave, and waves leave the starting corral every five minutes. Fastest bikers will be placed at the front of the corral to lessen passing.

This year’s bibs, event shirts sporting the graphic design, and finisher medals will come in pre-sealed Bags. Thursday bib pickup will be between noon and 6:00 pm, or bibs can be collected on the race night of Saturday, July 17, between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm at the park.
