Mesa will bring in the holidays for the sixth straight year with its annual downtown event Merry Main Street.
The close-to-four-stories-tall Christmas tree on Main and MacDonald Streets will greet guests over the holidays. Photos can be taken at the tree or at selfie stations. The tree will be lit at the Virtual Tree Lighting ceremony at 5:50 pm on November 27, and will be broadcast on Facebook.
Over 5,000 square feet of ice will be available at the Winter Wonderland Ice Rink for skaters to ice skate under the stars. The opening night will be November 27, and hours will be 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm weekdays, and noon until 10:00 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. No concessions will be available, and skaters must bring their own water bottles.
Pre-registration for specific days and one-hour timeslots is required, and the rink will be limited to 50 skaters at a time. Vintage holiday decorations from 1967 will adorn the area surrounding the ice.
Santa will be available for free visits on Friday and Saturday evenings from November 28 through December 19 at the Mesa Christmas tree in his Santa’s sELFie Village. Parents are encouraged to bring cameras or cell phones for pictures. Many families opt to take pictures of themselves with Santa to local Stationery printers to be added to next year’s family Calendars.
Merry Main Street will run from November 27 through January 2.
